Open Teaching Positions for 2017-2018


6th Grade Self Contained Main Classroom Teacher

This position is a self-contained 6th Grade main classroom teacher, who is responsible for teaching core academic subjects, Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Science as well as visual and performing arts. PVS teachers loop in grades 5-8, so the successful candidate will be expected to teach the class through grades 7, and 8 in subsequent years, and then loop back to teach 5th Grade.  Candidates must hold a current teaching license and be Highly Qualified (HQT status) according to federal and state requirements. Experience with Waldorf education is also preferred, and the successful candidate will be expected to attend a one week, school sponsored training, at Rudolf Steiner College in California in June. This is a full time position (1.0 FTE) with salary commensurate with experience, along with PERS retirement plan, and employer paid health and dental insurance. Candidates should send a letter of interest, resume, PVS Application Form, copy of license, and three professional references, including one from their current, or most recent supervisor, to the Principal, Paul Berg, Finalists will be selected for interviews in October, and the goal is to have the successful candidate work for two weeks in December (Dec. 1-15), to overlap with the current teacher, and then assume sole responsibilities in January (Jan. 2) 2018.


Substitute Teacher

PVS is building a list of substitute teachers. To qualify as a substitute you must be either state certified or registered with the Oregon Department of Education's Charter School Registry and have some teaching experience in grades K-8. Please include "Substitute Teacher Candidate" in the subject line and email to Paul Berg.  Portland Village School recognizes the worth of all individuals and groups.
